Ancient wisdom yet relevant to contemporary life, Shantideva’s verses challenge our outlook and responses to everyday life situations through reasoning and logic. The text extols the value of developing bodhicitta (altruism) through cultivating mindfulness, introspection and engaging in the 6 Perfections of generosity, morality, patience, joyful effort, concentration and wisdom. This semester discusses the Perfection of Concentration. In the Tibetan language Dharma classes, the text that is being discussed is Six Preparatory Practices and second chapter of Bodhicaryavatara.
