DMOD Opening Day 19th September 2025
DMOD’s Opening Day began with an assembly of 15 Sangha reciting prayers at the Gompa’s main door as per tradition. Devotees, well wishers and neighbours lined the street below to witness this inaugural ritual. This was followed by the Consecration Puja in the Gompa before the main Buddha altar that was adorned with a vast array of offerings. The floors of the Gompa reverberated with the deep chanting tones of the monks, accompanied by the devotees which had grown to more than 150 people. Upon the conclusion of the Puja, offerings were made to HH Dalai Lama’s throne and the Sangha. Drupa Rinpoche, founder of DMOD then gave a welcome-cum-thanksgiving speech in Tibetan and in English. Everyone was invited to offer khata (white scarf) to His Holiness’ throne. The morning’s event culminated in an extensive buffet of Tibetan and Asian dishes, to the delight of all who attended. May the Buddhadharma flourish for the benefit of all living beings!
